Parish Council News Report October 2020

Parish Council meetings are still happening, and Councillors have resolved to continue to hold our meetings remotely until the end of the year. A further review will be taken at this time.

Councillors have been made aware of rogue traders in the village. Information, provided by some residents, has been forwarded to Lincs Trading Standards and the local Police. Please call 101 if you are in a situation where a trader is reluctant to leave your doorstep.

For a number of years, Paul Cabourne has volunteered to undertake checks on our village defibrillators to ensure they are in service and available for use in an emergency situation. This community support has been very much appreciated by Councillors. Paul is moving away and as such a new volunteer is needed. Please let me know if you would be interested in supporting the community in this respect.

Councillors discussed a couple of planning applications:

S20/1563 Shaw. Application for the erection of 6 dwellings at 35 Church St, Long Bennington. Councillors resolved to comment on a number of items including drainage, access, over development, and suggestion that it should be considered as major development.

S20/1433 Bypass Farm Solar Ltd. Application for installation of solar farm and associated infrastructure at land south of the A1 (Foston By-Pass), Foston, Grantham. It was resolved not to object but to request that no construction vehicles are to travel through Long Bennington and to request a monetary contribution.

The Parish Council is still liaising with Lincs CC regarding the safety of parking in front of the Co-op and the safety of the junction at the southern end of the village where vehicles turn right to jpin the road leading to the island at the A1 slip road. Further liaison with is taking place with LCC regarding proposed improvements to the cycle lanes at the northern end of the village, with a plan to link the village to Newark. Further details will be provided as specific plans/details are agreed and available.

For further information, the minutes from the most recent meeting will be posted on the Parish Council noticeboard and the Parish Council website shortly after approval at the meeting.

NOTE - We are in the process of establishing a new website…………...further details will be available soon.
