Notice of Public Information Sharing Event

Lincolnshire County Council are hosting a Public Information Sharing Event at St James Village Hall Main Rd, Long Bennington, Newark NG23 5DJ on Tuesday 4th April from 16:00 – 19:00.
(Please note revised timing)

The event will allow village residents to ‘drop in’ and speak with the LCC Project Team, and representatives from partner organisations to find out further information on the scheme and ask any questions they may have in relation to the proposed works.

The village of Long Bennington has suffered from surface water flooding issues. Investigations have shown there are issues with the surface water systems that serve the village. The overland surface flow during intense rainfall events is not directed to appropriate locations and as such many properties are at risk.

Following a successful application, National Flood Defence Grant in Aid Funding from the Environment Agency has been received, in addition to funding already secured by Lincolnshire County Council (LCC). LCC have been working with key stakeholders and partners to develop and deliver a Flood Alleviation Scheme, which is to better protect over 50 properties by improving existing pipework capacity and constructing an additional outfall into the River Witham.

If you have any questions in regards to the event, please feel free to contact LCC at FloodRisk@lincolnshire.gov.uk, or the Long Bennington Parish Council at community@longbenningtonparishcouncil.org.
