Parish News Report November 2020

Parish Council meetings are still happening, and Councillors have resolved to continue to hold our meetings remotely until the end of the year. A further review will be taken at this time.

Sadly, there have been a few incidents of vandalism reported at the Playing Field and Sports Pavilion. The Police have been informed. Following discussion, it was agreed to investigate the possibility of CCTV installation. Quotes are to be obtained ready for discussion at the December meeting. If anyone witnesses any suspicious behaviour, please report it to the Police on 101.

Neighbourhood Watch……..we don’t currently have an active group of volunteers and perhaps this is something you might be interested in? Please let me know as the Parish Council is keen to support the establishment of a Neighbourhood Watch to support our community. This seems more relevant now given the vandalism, notice of a recent burglary in the village and awareness of other suspicious behaviour.

Planning:

S20/0669 Smith. One mobile home and one touring caravan for a traveller.

It was agreed to chase SKDC to confirm if the deadline for receipt of further information has been met and if not push for refusal. It was further agreed to ask SKDC for more information regarding the planning policy and site allocations for Gypsies and Travellers.

Notice of conclusion of the audit of the Long Bennington Parish Council accounts for year ended 31 March 2021 has been received and published. No further comments/recommendations were made by the external auditor. Details have been posted on the PC website and on the PC noticeboard.

The Parish Council will be discussing the new budget planning for next year at the December meeting and it has been agreed to further discuss a number of larger projects, to be included in longer term plans. For information, suggestions put forward for further discussions are improvements to Witham Meadow, replacement of the defibrillators, a planting scheme in and around the village and maintenance/ improvements at the playing field facilities. These are merely suggestions for further consideration and if you have any ideas for projects that you think may be of community benefit, please let me know.

For further information, the minutes from the most recent meeting will be posted on the Parish Council noticeboard and the Parish Council website shortly after approval at the meeting.

NOTE - We are in the process of establishing a new website…………...further details will be available soon.
