Parish News July 2026
The Parish Council had its last meeting on 6th July at St James’s Hall.
We have had feedback from residents that the noise from lorries travelling along Main Road has increased significantly. Residents and Parish Councillors met with our County Councillor, Ken Bamford to discuss and witness. Cllr. Bamford has agreed to discuss further with LCC Highways to see what actions can be taken.
The footings are now in place at Witham Meadow for the storage container to be placed on. Balfour Beaty constructed the pillars under the LCC volunteers scheme. Our thanks to the gentlemen from Balfour Beaty and to LCC for arranging. We hope to have more news on the container in the next month or two. The intention is that the container will be for storage of equipment for the pre school and village school, who use the nature reserve on a very regular basis.
Whilst the memorial gardens grass and edges are maintained on a regular basis, the borders are looking very untidy now. We would like to organise a day for volunteers to help weed the borders and get them back into a much better shape. Please can anyone who is willing to volunteer for an hour or two contact the Parish Clerk on parishclerk@longbenningtonparishcouncil.org. We can then look to organise a morning or afternoon, to get the work done. The Parish Council intend to assign a greater element of the precept for the memorial gardens in 27/28.
