Parish News June 2024

The Parish Council had its last meeting on 3rd June at St James’s Hall.

At the Annual Parish Council Meeting on 13th May, Councillors voted for Mark Newton to continue as Chairman and Geoff Fearn as Vice-Chairman.

FINANCE – Parish Councillors approved a donation of £1000 to St Swithun's PCC to help support the Churchyard Maintenance and £500 to support the production of the Parish News Magazine. The Parish Council insurance has been renewed and the Annual Governance and Accountability Return for the year ended 31st March 2024 has been submitted to the auditors. This information is on the Parish Council website.

VILLAGE MAINTENANCE – the Parish Council has reported some overgrown footpaths that are the responsibility of Lincolnshire CC. If anyone wishes to report any similar issues please contact either the Parish Council or report it directly to LCC via Fixmystreet https://www.fixmystreet.com/

PLAYING FIELD - a steering group has been established to take forward a project to upgrade the Pavilion. A suggested upgrade of the pitches is not going ahead at this stage but may be a future project.

New play equipment has now been installed and the sand pit with climbing frame removed. There are a couple of pending jobs to tidy the surrounding grass, but this is in hand.

THEFT OF TRACTOR/MOWER – on the evening of 4th June thieves broke into the Playing Field and stole our mower. This is an awful situation and there is a lot to arrange to ensure we continue the maintenance of the playing fields/pitches to the current very high standard. Sadly, there will, no doubt, be financial implications for the Parish Council relating to replacement, irrespective of the outcome of an insurance claim.
