Parish News March 2023
The Parish Council had its last meeting on 6th March at St James’s Hall.
SPEED CHECKS – last month 3 speed checks were conducted by a unmarked police vehicle. These resulted in 17 vehicles being stopped and due to a repeat offence, 6 points were given to two of those caught speeding within the 30MPH area. These local speed checks will continue!!
CYCLE SCHEME - the first phase of the works, being the signage and linings for the area between the 30 signs and Westborough Lane, is taking place in March. The second part, which will be the area from the 30s to the A1 requires a road closure so is a bit more complicated and no dates have been confirmed at this stage.
FLOOD SCHEME – preliminary works have been done and we are expecting main works to commence in May/June. The scheme will see significant improvements with construction of 52 new road gullies, 19 new manholes and 480m of new 60mm carrier pipe, with a new outflow to the River Witham to the east of the village. A planned drop-in session arranged by Lincs CC will provide more detailed information.
WITHAM MEADOW – our fruit and nut trees have arrived and will be planted once temperatures are a little higher. A part of the ongoing planting, a few bluebells and snowdrops have been planted. We look forward to seeing them flower next year. If anyone has any ideas or would like to get involved, please contact me.
ANNUAL PARISH MEETING – TUESDAY 30th MAY. Please join us at the Village Hall to discuss what has been happening in your village over the past 12 months and hear about the plans for the next year. This is an informal meeting with refreshments and everyone is encouraged to join us.
Following meeting dates Monday 3rd April and Monday 15th May.
