Parish News January 2023
The Parish Council had its last meeting on 9th January at St James’s Hall.
FINANCE – Parish Councillors approved payment of invoices totalling £2122.27.
Payments approved in November and paid in December included £5883.15 for maintenance and repair works to the children’s play equipment at the playing field. These were necessary repairs to keep the equipment safe and fit for purpose.
In December Councillors resolved to increase the precept, for 2023/24, by £2000 to £52950. This represents a 1.6% increase (86p per Band D household) and application to SKDC has been submitted.
PLANNING – Councillors confirmed SKDC has refused planning application s22/1022 for the change of use from agricultural land on Marshall Way to use as a residential caravan site for 1 gypsy / traveller family group on 7 pitches, comprising of 12 touring caravans and 11 static caravans, erection of 10 utility buildings and 7 stable blocks
VILLAGE MAINTENANCE – Quotes for maintenance and tidying of both the Memorial Gardens and Village Hall Gardens have been approved. Work will go ahead as soon as possible, and weather conditions are right.
PLAYING FIELD FACILITY - In consultation with Playing Field Management Committee, the Parish Council has applied to SKDC for Section 106 monies, from the Park View development, to support the provision of car parking at the Pavilion. It has been confirmed £11250 could be available and the application is being considered.
